Synthetic Robotic Larynx

Last year Professor Martin Birchall, University College London, and Bristol Robotics Laboratory submitted a bid for funding for a project to develop an artificial larynx.

Professor Birchall  is a medical advisor to NALC and he asked for their support and involvement in the project. Two NALC members were interviewed to provide supporting evidence of the value of the project.

I am delighted to report the bid for funding was successful. Though there are many problems to overcome, the prospect of treatment that does not involve breathing through a neck stoma is only to be welcomed.
